Welcome to the Just-Chat e-mail forum Back To The Previous Page

You may wish to retain this message for your future reference. In any event, please read it in its entirety before posting to the list.

In here, as the name implies, you may just chat about anything and everything. This is an un-moderated, free-for-all, mailing list.

There aren't many rules which you must observe in this forum. But those few rules which do exist will be strictly implemented, unless otherwise indicated. You may not:

  1. use this forum to make offensive or defamatory comments towards any other party or member.
  2. Use this forum to send file attachments of any kind, without the specific and explicit consent of the list owner.
  3. Fowl or abusive language will not be tolerated under any circumstances whatsoever. The list owner reserves the exclusive right to remove any member from the list, or suspend their membership, where it is deemed necessary and appropriate to do so.

Miscellaneous

  1. When quoting text from a previous message, please only quote what is relevant. In other words, please do not quote an entire chain of messages, only the most recent one to which you are replying.
  2. Please do not forward messages from other lists with similar content to this one. If you wish to quote text from such messages, that's fine, but please remove all message headers. That will help reduce extraneous traffic. Whilst there are occasions where such articles are of mutual interest to list members, I encourage you to be selective when forwarding material. Replication of this kind of material can sometimes be tedious for other members.
  3. If an article you wish to forward is copyright material, please respect the copyrights of the owner, and seek their permission before forwarding to this list.
  4. Any decision made regarding the list, its membership or content by the list owner shall be deemed as final and binding.
  5. Recommendations:

    1. Bulk Distribution
    2. If you do decide to send a message to multiple destinations, please be sure not to add the Just-Chat list in either the BCC or CC fields of your client's creation pane. This will cause your message to be bounced by the server.<./P>

The reason for this is that bulk distribution is a favourite tchnique employed by spam authors and EBots. We need to ensure that the forum remains free of this kind of content.

    3. Message Creation
    4. Several list members have expressed the preference that replies should contain the text being replied too below the new comments. This method makes reading easier and faster. This is the preferred option for this forum, although not obligatory at this point. Also, please remember to separate your comments from the original text by at least one carriage return, (blank line). This is good procedure anywhere, as it makes message editing much simpler for all.

    5. Where the subject matter in a thread migrates, as can happen from time to time, to a subject such as technology, which is covered specifically by another of our lists, we encourage you to move the conversation to that list. Please remember that this list is not intended as a technology chat room. The purpose of this list is to socialise, and duplication is strongly discouraged.

If you can live with these few rules, then welcome to the forum.

All messages to and from the forum are automatically scanned at the server level by a robust integrated anti-virus module. However, this should not be viewed as a substitute for your own anti-virus strategy.

It is ultimately your responsibility to protect yourself against viruses, worms and trojans. In the unlikely event that one should slip through the net, and find its way on to the list, we accept neither liability nor responsibility for any damage resulting from the infected message.

Should you have any questions or comments related to this mailing list, or any concerns regarding the content of this document, please address them to us privately at at the usual support contact address and we will be happy to discuss them with you. and once again, welcome along, and have fun.

If you wish to subscribe, unsubscribe from or modify your list subscription options via E-Mail, please send a message, containing the appropriate command(s) in the body and/or subject line, to the Just-Chat list server
